She began her career at Westside Dance Physical Therapy, treating members of the New York City Ballet. For fourteen years, she was a therapist at PhysioArts Physical Therapy, which served both the Broadway community and the broader community of dancers and performers in New York. She has provided treatment for numerous Broadway productions over the course of her career. Since 2011, Carol has been on staff as a physical therapist at the Juilliard School, and she has a private practice in NYC dedicated to the treatment of performers. Carol holds a Master’s in Physical Therapy from Columbia University. She is Certified as a Functional Manual Therapist through the Institute of Physical Art (CFMT) and is a Certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst (CMA). For several years, Carol held an adjunct faculty position at Columbia University, where she taught Soft Tissue Manipulation. She has presented at the annual conferences for both the International Association for Dance Medicine and the Performing Arts Medicine Association.
Carol has raised two daughters who are classical musicians, and they have inspired her dedication to the care and treatment of instrumentalists. She brings her expertise in movement observation, as well as her enthusiasm and curiosity, to the task of problem-solving musicians’ injuries. This has led her to develop principles of treatment specific to the needs of instrumentalists that are integrative and comprehensive.
