OUR LOCATION
Blue Hill is on the coast of Maine, approximately 250 miles north of Boston, about a five-hour drive by car. The Kneisel Hall campus is located at 137 Pleasant Street, a quarter mile north of the town center.
PLANNING TO VISIT US IN MAINE?
- Automobile: 137 Pleasant Street, Blue Hill, Maine, 04614
- Airplane: Several airlines serve Bangor International Airport (BGR), a one-hour drive from Blue Hill.
- Bus: Concord Coachlines (formerly, Concord Trailways) operates daily service between Boston and Bangor. Concord Coachlines picks up at the airport in Boston and at South Station. Other bus companies exist, please book only with Concord.
- Please note: There are limited taxi and Uber services in Maine.
LODGING
While Young Artists are house on-campus, we do not have guest quarters available. Local inns and hotels include:

- Brooklin Inn, Brooklin
- Pentagoet Inn, Castine
- Pilgrim’s Inn, Deer Isle

WHAT TO PACK
Attire in Maine is casual, yet it is expected that Young Artists dress a bit nicer for “concert attire” Layers are helpful! The weather in Maine can be warm during the day, then cool and damp at night.

Laundry facilities are available at Blue Hill Laundry.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital is located close to our campus.
CELL SERVICE & WIFI
- Due to our location at the base of Blue Hill Mountain, cell service can be limited on campus but is generally sufficient around town and in the region.
- Free WiFi is available nearby at Blue Hill Public Library.
COMING TO CAMPUS FOR A VISIT?
- Except for concerts, guests must be introduced to Meredith on arrival.
- A guest in your room must be approved by your roommate.
- Guests may not stay more than three nights.
- Guests must follow the campus rules, or they will be asked to leave.
- Guests are charged $25 per night.
PERFORMANCES & TICKETING
Students attend everything on campus free of charge. If you would like to purchase tickets for a concert, please use our website or make arrangements with the Box Office Manager at (207) 812-2822. We recommend that you book tickets well in advance, as most faculty concerts will sell out. Student concerts and masterclasses are free.
CAMPUS RULES
- Smoking is NOT permitted ANYWHERE on the upper campus grounds or in any campus building. If you do smoke you may smoke only in the lower parking lot.
- The consumption of any alcoholic beverage by minors on campus is not permitted.
- The use of illegal drugs is forbidden.
- Camping on campus (including sleeping in cars) is prohibited.
- No pets on campus.
- Permission for overnight absence from campus must be arranged with the Executive Director.
- Discretion will be always expected of your behavior, along with full respect and consideration for others and their privacy.
- Quiet hours, begin at 11:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time and end at TIME

- Kneisel Hall is on well water, which is tested and safe to drink.
