KNEISEL HALL ANNOUNCES 2024 SEASON – MUSIC FESTIVAL & BLUE HILL TROUPE PERFORMANCES

Blue Hill—Kneisel Hall’s annual Music School and Festival returns for its 122nd year on the Blue Hill peninsula. The season includes Festival Concerts, Master Classes, Open Rehearsals, and Young Artist Concerts, and outreach events include Children’s Concerts at Blue Hill Public Library and Kneisel Hall On Tour at various locations.

“In the span of nine weeks, we will offer more than 50 opportunities to enjoy chamber music on our campus and at local venues,” shares Meredith Amado, Executive Director.

Kneisel Hall’s 2024 season includes return visits from long-time Kneisel Hall cellists Jerry Grossman and Barbara Mallow, and four guest violinists: Francesca dePasquale, YooJin Jang, Jesse Mills, and Kneisel Hall alumnus Ari Isaacman-Beck. Kneisel Hall will also present two emerging string quartets: the Catalyst Quartet and the Verona Quartet.

Kneisel Hall hosts musicians for two chamber music programs during June, July, and August.

The Young Artist Program will welcome 47 students from music schools and conservatories. Students work with faculty comprised of professional musicians and music faculty from across the United States and immerse themselves in a curriculum focusing exclusively on chamber music. The seven-week Young Artists Program serves as the season’s anchor.

One week before the Young Artist Festival, the Program for Maine Students welcomes younger local talent from across the state.

Amado explains, “For the participants of both programs, the time spent in Maine is an uninterrupted time for artistic growth, experimentation, and collaboration with peers and coaches of the highest caliber. The tranquillity and peace of Blue Hill are ideal environments for intensive study.”

Kneisel Hall will also host the return of Blue Hill Troupe this summer.  Blue Hill Troupe celebrates its 100th anniversary with August performances of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “H.M.S. Pinafore,” which benefit Kneisel Hall.

“Founded in 1924, Blue Hill Troupe helped bring dynamic musical performances to our region. We are delighted to be the beneficiaries of their shows later this summer,” offers Amado.

Tickets to all performances are now available to the public at kneisel.org.

Kneisel Hall is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to foster the art of chamber music through teaching and performance in an intimate environment steeped in tradition and artistic excellence.
